What’s Good and Not So Good About the LG Optimus One P500.
Thursday, November 17th, 2011In a market that is saturated with higher priced phones competing for your business, its nice to know there are also bargains such as the LG Optimus One 500. That doesn’t mean it’s the right choice for everyone, though. So that you can decide if this is the right phone for you, we will share some of the specs, benefits and drawbacks with you in the following review.
Googles operating system is Android and Google offers many features and apps, so any phone with this OS will be able to integrate them easily. Because the number of apps available from the Android store rivals that of Apple, the LG Optimus One P500 will find many apps it can use. LG phones also provide you with an App Advisor, which recommends certain apps for you to download.
Because there are so many different apps available and its hard to keep up with them, this will be useful. If you are looking to find a business or point of interest, you have access to Google Maps, which is very helpful in that area.
If you are in the U.S. and use the Verizon network, you may want to look into the LG Vortex, which is the same phone as the LG Optimus One P500. This is a good budget smartphone that uses Verizon’s reliable 3G network and comes with quite a few features for the price. You have, for example, Visual Voice Mail, which allows you to manage your voice mail messages in any order you want, without having to listen to all of them if you don’t want to. Another feature that’s very useful, but which you’ll have to pay extra for, is the VZ Navigator. If you want to get traffic alerts, voice prompted directions and the ability to search for popular points of interest all over the country, then this feature is something you will appreciate.
Unfortunately, although the LG Optimus One P500 is a good reliable phone, the sound quality isn’t always the best. Of course, which network you are using can be a factor in this area. But it is a fact that the sound quality on budget phone is not as good as one that costs more, so this is one of the trade offs you make. Normally the calls are clear enough, but on occasion there may be a distortion in the background which will let people know that you are using a cell phone instead of a land line. Volume control on the speaker phone can cause issues even though the speaker phone itself works well.
A good choice for someone looking to purchase their first smartphone, the LG Optimus One P500 is also for those on a limited budget. Be aware that it won’t give the same high end performance or features that one gets with a higher priced phone. You can own a decent smartphone for the price of a simple cell phone with the LG Optimus One P500.
